2013 Fall Kickoff

The CETL is pleased to announce the 2013 Fall Kickoff that will take place August 15th, 2013 from 8:30pm – 4:30pm at West Library and the Baker Building. The theme for this year’s kickoff is ENGAGING WITH STUDENTS and will include a series of events, workshops, and discussions about the theme. The keynote speaker for the fall kickoff is Mark Algren – Director of the Applied English Center at the University of Kansas and you will find his bio below along with a tentative schedule of events/sessions. Serving International Students

This past Thursday at the Texas Wesleyan University campus, faculty and staff were delighted to receive Dr. Monochehr Dorraj as a speaker discussing how to serve international students. Some of the main topics discussed included pedagogical challenges in working with international students, how to best communicate policies on attendance and academic dishonesty, cultural differences and their impact in an instructor’s teaching, and communicating advanced vocabulary and concepts.
